He has talked with them. We shall see.
just because you've not heard about it doesn't mean it isn't true.
if it is true, and the job is offered to him, and coach colobro can retire from virginia, he'd be crazy not to take it.

When Coach Fry decided to hang it up he hand picked a young man to replace him who could stay with the program for 20 years or more. Nick Jr is that man in GC. since Housright left after the 1997 season I have seen little to no drop off in the defense under Reed except for 98 and last season. I'm sure Barry Jones is a good coach, but since he brought the PV blocking scheme to GC they (PV) have owned us. Why cant Jones beat his old team?
I love Bill Housright, but he quit on the kids at Rye Cove and he quit on the kids at Twin Springs. No one is going to give him the chance to quit on the kids at Gate City.

So I try to forget it any way I can.
Coach Colobro was also a head coach prior to coming to Gate City. If he leaves, they need someone that's a proven head coach.

I think it should be Barry's when Nick does decide to step down, if the time is anytime near the present. I have heard it is Reed's to lose, which I just don't understand. Also, what about Houseright coming back as HC at GC? You really haven't seen that mentioned on here, which surprises me.

When Reed gets the job it will be the last time I ever attend a GC football game. The defense has done nothing but dive down hill since he took it over.
For $80+ thousand per year? Why wouldn't Colobro take it if offered?!
Before you decide whos gonig to be the next Gate City coach is Colobro even going to leave?
Reeking of awesomeness!
If Science Hill hires him, Coach C is gone. When he applied for the head spot at CVC in 90 or 91 there was an assembly where he told the kids he might be leaving. As far as I know nothing has happened to that effect. When questioned face to face about leaving for Johnson City Coach just flashed the trademark grin and said "I don't think I'm what they're looking for."
I hope something can be worked out to where he stays at GC, one way or the other. As you all know I'm a Colobro guy. Its funny to me that I always seem on the flip side of the coin compared to other GC fans on this forum. I support Nick Jr. as the first choice for the job if the old man moves on. My second choice for the job would be Darren Reed. Neither of those options is popular on the board. My third and fourth choices are Gilbert Smith and Bill Housright. As you can see, I like to keep it in the family.
Maybe that is the source of another rift between me and the other GC guys on here: Barry Jones. It surprises me that this guy is so readily accepted in the face of, what appears to me, a lack of results. Now the first thing someone is going to say is that Coach C is an out of town guy. Whether he is the exception that proves the rule is something we will see in the next few seasons.
In a perfect world I would give the head coaching / offensive coordinator spot to Tony Martin. He is the determining factor in GC's 2003 state title. At the defensive coordinator spot would be Dollar Bill Housright. He is the determining factor for GC's 1997 state title. At any rate, if everyone on here knew Nick Jr. on a personal level and not from a fans perspective they would see that he is the man for the job. There is my opinion, stated and restated, and that's all I'll say about it. Respectfully, we GC guys will just have to agree to disagree.
